Thoughts after the first month of coop
The COOP program started in April 2024.
I am majoring in Digital Marketing, a 6 month classroom + 6 month internship course.
My classmates are 20 and almost half of them are Japanese. Other classmates are from Mexico, Colombia, Korea, and Thailand. The class atmosphere is very good and the classes are a lot of fun.I think there are about 3 students with marketing experience, but most of them have no experience.
As for English proficiency, my non-Japanese classmates seem to have no trouble at all expressing their opinions in English. Most of the Japanese, including myself, have taken ESL and then moved on to COOP.
My impression is that they are not as good at English as students of other nationalities.
There is not much homework. But what is more difficult is the presentation. Many teachers will give you time to prepare during class, but there are times when you will need to prepare outside of class. In my case, I have a little knowledge of digital marketing, so I can understand the class content, but I find it a big challenge to express and summarize my opinions in my own words.
The teachers are easy to understand and eager to help me if I have questions, so I will continue to do my best.
